Bridge Inspection To CS 450
General, principal and special inspections of bridges and highway structures to DMRB CS 450, with specialist coating and corrosion expertise built in.
View ServiceBridges and highway structures are our core work. We inspect steel, composite and concrete bridges, gantries, masts and rail structures for the National Highways supply chain, local authorities and rail asset owners, combining CS 450 inspections with specialist coating and corrosion expertise.
Most bridge maintenance spend on steel structures goes on corrosion protection. Yet inspections are often carried out by generalists, with coating and corrosion specialists called in later for a second visit. We do both, so condition data on coatings and section loss is captured properly the first time and your maintenance decisions rest on measured evidence.
Our inspectors hold ICorr and NACE/AMPP coating inspection qualifications and IRATA rope access certification, and we plan inspection teams to meet the competence requirements of CS 450.
We work within the National Highways supply chain, for local highway authorities, for contractors and consultants delivering structures programmes, and for rail asset owners. Client and structure names are kept confidential.
Every inspection is scoped against the standard that applies to the asset.
| Standard | What it covers |
|---|---|
| DMRB CS 450 | Inspection of highway structures: general, principal, special and acceptance inspections |
| CC 486 (formerly SHW Series 1900) | Protection of steelwork against corrosion on bridges and highway structures, including paint inspection |
| DMRB CD 361 | Weathering steel for highway structures, including residual thickness monitoring |
| NR/L3/CIV/006 | Network Rail examination of structures, tunnels and operational property |
| ISO 4628 and ISO 12944 | Rating of coating degradation and corrosion protection by paint systems |

Read MoreYes. We carry out general, principal and special inspections of highway structures to CS 450, with coating and corrosion assessment built into the scope.
Yes. A large part of our work is delivered within the National Highways supply chain, alongside local authority and rail work.
We are based in Devon and work on structures across the UK.
Yes. Combining them in one visit saves access costs and traffic management, and gives the owner a complete picture of the steelwork.
