Programme

Standards
CM431 / CC487

The Challenge

  • Coating survey in line with CM431 Maintenance Painting of Steelwork, and paint inspections in line with CC487.
  • Maintenance works had to account for the disruption caused by closing the bridge.
  • Because a new deck was needed, the bridge was removed and then reinstated once the work was complete.

Our Solution

  • A pre-specification paint survey identified hazardous materials and determined the extent of preparation required and a suitable coating system.
  • A major maintenance scheme was required, including full removal of the existing coating system and repainting with a Highways-approved system.
  • Corrosion Management supported the project throughout, making sure preparation was to a suitable standard and the corrosion protection system was applied correctly.
